The idea of the Composer Resource is to provide an opportunity for composers to try out material (rather than necessarily finished pieces) and to get feedback from players and conductor. The sessions take place on the internet, with live realtime interaction. Any material is welcome and there is no age bar or competitive element to submissions. The Composer Resource has run successfully for four years now, and continues to seek contributiuons from composers. Please visit http://www.philharmonia.co.uk/thesoundexchange/composer_resource/ to view documentation of previous sessions and find out how to take part.
The very first session was broadcast from De Montfort University's Recording Studio on February 14th, 2003. Four composers were invited to submit material to be read through by the Composer Resource Ensemble, conducted by Clark Rundell, and the session was directed by Andrew Hugill. The composers were online throughout, and answered questions about the music during the session. The composers were: Panayiotis Kokoras (York), Jenny Lisk (London), Malcolm Atkins (Oxford), David Sanderson (Exeter).
What follows is a video archive of that session. You will need the Quicktime player to view the footage. This can be downloaded free HERE.
