Andrew Hugill: Web

Hugill's use of the internet as a creative, pedagogic and research tool extends back as far as the early 1990s, before the arrival of the World Wide Web. In 2010/11, his reputation in this area was acknowledged by the British Library, who featured him in their exhibition 'Growing Knowledge: the evolution of research'. Recognition of his contribution to internet pedagogy was made in 2006 by the Times Higher Education awards, when he was 'Highly Commended' for the 'Most Imaginative Use of Distance Learning'. He has also been a consultant to the BBC's 21st Century Classroom project and to the National Grid for Learning.

The projects listed below include novel technological developments, creative projects and web resources created with many collaborators including the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Bournemouth Sinfonietta. Hugill has a particular interest in understanding how traditional art forms may adapt to an ever-changing digital environment. His most recent collaboration in this area is a new digital opera project with The Opera Group, which will be launched in 2012.
