vibrato	undulation in pitch	verbal instruction, sometimes with wavy line	vibrato	This is normally used as an exaggerated effect reminiscent of jazz.
glissando	slide in pitch between notes		glissando low register mid register top register	Half-valves in the lower register, and harmonic series or 'lip' glissando in the upper register.
'rip'	an indefinite glissando	verbal instruction	'rip'	This is not a standard classical technique, as the video clip demonstrates!
trills	rapid alternation between two pitches	this shows a minor trill followed by a major trill, indicated by accidentals over the note. If these are not given, players will choose trill type based on musical context. The wavy lines indicating duration of trill are also optional.	trills low register mid register high register tremolos low register mid register high register	All trills are possible on the trumpet. The use of lip or valve will depend upon the register. Tremolos on intervals more than a minor 3rd are possible if they can be played with the same fingering, or with only one finger moving.
