Range (written)

About the ranges of different trumpets
High notes on trumpets
pedal notes
longest possible notes
dynamic shapes

Select dynamic:
then click note to hear sound played on Bb trumpet
(N.B. changes in dynamics may affect timbre as much as apparent volume level)

At loud dynamics, the Bb trumpet can reach written F6 and F#6

F3 is performable on some trumpets by using movable tuning slides.

There is normally no difference in range between a Bb trumpet and a piccolo trumpet, but some 4-valve piccolo trumpets do have an additional major 3rd range below the treble staff (i.e. down to Db3).
